Media discovery startup MatchMine has raised $10 million to build the ultimate movie suggestion algorithm.

We headed up to their offices in Boston to chat with their data scientists, and translate their complex vision into interactive reality with Adobe Flex and PureMVC.

The application lets you rate movies and songs across different platforms, building up an anonymized profile that can be used to make suggestions wherever you are.

MatchMine’s “MatchKey” technology uses demographic information about a user and a ratings system to deliver suggested media, and can also be plugged into third party sites to deliver recommendations. Three sites will support MatchKeys at launch: Peerflix, FilmCrave and Fuzz.com.
