We were excited when we got the call to come to State Street's offices in Boston to demonstrate the power of Macromedia Flex for creating robust and maintainable applications that run inside the browser.
State Street wants to build a unifying for wealth management platform that doesn't have all the issues that arise from page-based site development, such as session management and loss of state.
Macromedia Flex leverages the Flash plugin that is available in all browsers, in a way that is far beyond the "skip intro" movies you are used to. It allows applications to be developed that rival those on the desktop in power.
Using the object-oriented ActionScript programming language, software architecture patterns can be applied, making the resulting application more maintainable and less likely to lead to "spaghetti code."
In creating the POC for State Street, we used the Cairngorm framework, which provides a handful of classes that work in concert, having clearly defined roles, relationships, and collaboration patterns, as is familiar to Java enterprise developers.
Thanks to the good folks from Macromedia Enablement Services who reached out to us for this engagement.
